A local comedy show food drive, two vegan chefs, and a 24-pallet donation helped ease LA’s SNAP crisis just in time for Thanksgiving.

This Thanksgiving season arrived with a sharp ache in Los Angeles. SNAP delays were stretching household budgets past their seams, and Westside Food Bank was serving more families than ever. The need was rising faster than donations could keep up.

And then one of the city’s most delightful community fixtures became an unexpected amplifier.

Night Class, a monthly educational comedy show in Santa Monica, has built a devoted local following by blending stand-up, curiosity, and genuine conversations with real experts. Each show becomes a kind of living library – jokes threaded together with insight – and their pre-holiday event was no exception. That night’s featured guests were two vegan chefs, invited to talk about food, culture, nourishment, and care. The audience laughed, learned, and leaned in.

That night, the Night Class team didn’t settle for laughter alone. They decided to turn their show into a food drive, inviting attendees to bring pantry items and shining a spotlight on the growing hunger crisis across LA.

At the same time, Liquidonate was working behind the scenes with our partner brands to help supplement this donation effort. Ultimately, our partners were able to donate 24 pallets of surplus high-quality, shelf-stable food.

The timing could not have aligned more perfectly.

Within hours, Liquidonate matched the donation to Westside Food Bank and coordinated the full delivery to their distribution center. As families prepare for Thanksgiving with fewer resources than usual, those pallets became hundreds of lunchbox staples, and snacks that lifted a little weight off worried shoulders.

This is the kind of collaboration we live for: a comedy show that cares, two chefs stirring generosity into the room, a food bank fighting hunger on the ground, and brands willing to share what they have. All connected by a pathway that turns extra inventory into community impact.

When surplus meets need, everyone eats.

If your company has excess inventory (food, goods, returns, or materials), we’d love to help you turn it into something meaningful. Connect with us at hello@liquidonate.com.
