Communities Continue to Recover from Hurricane Helene
Devastating destruction from the effects of Hurricane Helene have left communities in North Carolina with significant damage, disruption to essential services, and needs for extra support and resources. Historic rains and flooding amounted to a record-breaking $53 billion in relief needs, and folks are facing a long period of recovery.
Local nonprofit leaders like Democracy Green are directly involved in putting the call out for volunteer efforts and aid distribution. Founded in 2018, Democracy Green leads numerous campaigns, programs, community outreach and policy advocacy that promote real solutions for environmental justice in North Carolina and beyond. By challenging the notion that the way things are is the way things should always be, they are a force for positive transformation in helping to weather every storm, whether natural disasters or human-made.
LiquiDonate is proud to have played a small part in relief efforts by partnering with Luxome, a brand for luxury essentials that calm, uplift, and give much needed comfort – a high need to support the many families and individuals that are displaced or have lost households full of belongings. 26 pallets of blankets and bedding made their way to Western North Carolina to be distributed directly to folks in need. The goods will be distributed as part of a new campaign, Share the Warmth, to reach families in Western North Carolina with bundles of winterized aid.
There’s been an incredible outpouring of support from individuals and organizations working to bring aid for the victims of Hurricane Helene. The donated blankets and sheets will make a meaningful gift as people move into their new homes and brace for frigid temperatures. - Sanja Whittington, Executive Director of Democracy Green

By working together and prioritizing the needs of the hurricane-affected communities, we can contribute to rebuilding efforts and enable areas to emerge stronger, more resilient, and better prepared to face future challenges.

Enabling Brands to Help Combat The Effects of Climate Change
Devastating storms are an example of how climate change exacerbates vulnerabilities in our communities – an increase in the frequency and severity of storms is an expected outcome from a worldwide rise in emissions. Our innovative climate tech supports brands and retailers with a long-term sustainability vision to reduce emissions from both unnecessary landfill waste and inefficient shipping and logistics operations for returns. By bridging the connection between partners with supply and partners with needs, we strive to make a difference as an efficient, sustainable, and meaningful solution for all parties. It is only through a collaborative approach that we can promote a circular economy model that drives positive change.
